Recently, a bookstore’s building flooded from heavy rains causing extensive damage to the business. Most of the store fixtures were damaged beyond repair, books and inventory were destroyed, and, due to structural damage to the building, the business was forced to close for nearly a month for repairs.
All these losses on top of the pandemic were more than the business could manage. That’s when store owner Michael* reached out to their community and to Binc for help.
A grant from Binc allowed the store to pay for off-site inventory storage and begin to replace the lost fixtures. A crowdfunding campaign helped the store pay other bills and reopen.
In many cases of natural disasters like flooding, earthquake, and fire, Binc’s help is part of the solution for the business. Insurance, community fundraising, and a Binc grant all working together mean this bookstore is once again open for business. It’s wonderful to join communities of book lovers helping bookstores recover from challenging circumstances.

The dentist I found who had the space for an appointment wanted payment half up and half behind, I couldn’t swing it. I emailed Binc a request for aid and they had emailed me back in thirty minutes. It ended up, they not only gave me aid, they covered the entire cost of the procedure. Binc has been responsive and enormously understanding and helpful. They’ve become the charity I’ll support in the future, because I know they’ll do good directly and earnestly.”
