Binc Announces New Communications & Marketing Specialist

The Binc Foundation team is delighted to welcome Robin Wood as our new communications & marketing specialist.

October 19, 2020 – Robin Wood, Binc’s new communications & marketing specialist, comes most recently from Books & Books @ The Studios, the Key West-based nonprofit independent bookstore founded by George Cooper and Judy Blume and affiliated with Books & Books in Miami. Since 2016, Robin has held positions at the store including frontline bookseller, social media manager and associate manager.

Prior to joining the book industry, Robin had spent her career in communications and public relations. She is principal of Punctuate Communications, LLC, a public relations consultancy specializing in helping small businesses and nonprofits communicate effectively. Over the course of her career, Robin has held leadership positions in communications for companies, associations and public relations agencies.

Robin started October 12, and can be reached via email at robin@bincfoundation.org or her direct phone number is 734-441-6046.

Robin will work primarily from her home offices in Key West or Albany, NY, but once it is safe to resume regular travel, Robin will spend time in our Ann Arbor office as needed. Robin and her spouse, Kathleen, share their home with two Terriers and a lot of books. Most of Robin’s hobbies involve books, but on nice days, she can sometimes be found in a kayak.

“We are thrilled to have Robin join the Binc team. Her experience and expertise in public relations, media communication and strategic communication planning will further help Binc respond to the rapid growth we’ve seen in 2020 while also helping to prepare the Foundation for new initiatives to better serve the comic and book communities. Please join me in welcoming Robin to Binc!” said the Foundation’s executive director, Pam French.

This staff addition demonstrates Binc’s commitment to helping as many booksellers and comic book retailers as possible, throughout and beyond the COVID pandemic. Since the beginning of 2020, Binc has helped 598 families through hardship and emergency circumstances with over $707,358 in emergency assistance. The Foundation has been helping more booksellers and comic retailers every year since 2011, but this year has experienced more than a 400% increase in the need for emergency household assistance. The Foundation has also this year distributed over $2.2M to more than 1600 bookstores and comic shops around the country.
