ANN ARBOR, MI – Two industry leaders and former Borders employees with years of retail, sales, and marketing experience in the book industry have joined the Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation board of directors.
Meghan Holmes (right) is a marketing executive with over 16 years of leadership experience in the retail and marketing agency sectors. Meghan started her career working at Borders’ headquarters in various marketing and operational roles. She has been involved with Binc since 2003 and served as vice president of the board from 2010-2013.
Susan Yeager was a bookseller at Borders and served over 17 years as trainer, buyer, category manager, and inventory director. She joined HarperCollins in 2007 where she is currently sr. director of sales. Susan has volunteered for Adult Literacy, New York Road Runners, and served three years on the steering committee of Greene Hill Food Co-op.
Steven Malk, literary agent with Writers House, completed his service to Binc.
“I am excited to welcome Meghan and Susan to the board,” said Binc board president Chris Morrow. “They will add significant talent and experience, and we are very grateful for their time, energy and planning as we celebrate Binc’s 30th year of support for the frontline book and comic sellers who are the lifeblood of the industry.”
In addition, the board’s executive committee was reelected: Morrow, former owner of Northshire Bookstore, president; Michael Jacobs, former president and CEO of Abrams Books, vice president; Jonathan Putnam, historical fiction author, treasurer; and Emma Kaas, co-owner of Norwich Bookstore, secretary.
“I am grateful for the experience these industry leaders bring to the Binc board as well as their dedication and commitment,” said Binc CEO Pamela French. “They give generously of their time, and their insights are invaluable. Welcome Meghan and Susan, and big thanks to Steven for his service and generosity to Binc and to book and comic people across the country.
