Ann Arbor—The Binc Foundation will be honoring the incomparable Wanda Jewell at Winter Institute in Baltimore. Wanda served as a member of the Binc Foundation’s board of directors from 2014 to 2018, and she was one of the first regional association executive directors to join the Binc board. Wanda understood immediately and intuitively the critical role the Foundation plays in the book industry—stabilizing booksellers’ households and helping bookstores thrive in their communities. Wanda saw her role as an advocate for booksellers and a fundraiser for Binc. She fulfilled both roles with excellence, creativity, and joy. Wanda even coined the tagline “Think Binc!” a phrase the foundation loves and uses to this day.

Wanda has influenced more funds to help booksellers than is calculable. Her adoption of the Heads or Tails fundraising game at the SIBA Discovery Show in 2016 inspired six other regions and the American Booksellers Association to host their own Heads or Tails fundraisers. These fundraisers have generated nearly $50,000 to date which has helped an astounding twenty-one booksellers through hardship and emergency circumstances.

The Foundation would be thrilled to include your name to the list of individuals and companies honoring Wanda’s thirty years of dedication to the book industry with a tribute gift.

Please consider making a gift to the Binc Foundation before Jan 17th to be included in the special recognition event at Winter Institute.

All individuals who make a gift in Wanda’s honor before January 17th will be entered to win a signed first edition of The Death of Santini by Pat Conroy courtesy of Marly Rusoff Literary Agency.

Do you have a photo or quote about working with Wanda to share? Binc is putting together a slideshow and they want to include your memory! Please email photos and quotes to info@bincfoundation.org.
