The Binc Foundation Stands in Solidarity with Black Communities

The Binc Foundation stands in solidarity with Black communities, authors, readers, and peers across the country. We stand for antiracism and support voices for racial justice and change. We know that Black communities face threats from the police, systemic racism, incarceration, and criminalization.

That is why Binc is renewing its commitment to diversity and antiracism. This is the time to listen, learn, and examine our actions and reactions within the biases we strive to identify and work to diminish.*

In addition, we are focused on how Binc can move to support and expand bookstores in underserved communities.

We are proud that, with your support, Binc’s response to the pandemic crisis was nimble and responsive and has begun to help booksellers and stores build a path ahead. That same commitment and perseverance will challenge racism and support the Black community in bookselling and beyond.

As we reflect and learn, as the booklovers we are, we turn to books and the voices they hold. As one place to continue this ongoing work we offer these reading lists compiled by our industry. And we encourage you to support black-owned bookstores when making book purchases.

And we are searching for ways Binc can help and improve our organization and we appreciate your suggestions. Please email us at info@bincfoundation.org.
