A Message from Executive Director Pam French

Over the last 30 days, we have seen this community come together to support each other in extraordinary ways. Because of our amazing partners from across the industry, since March 13th, Binc has approved and distributed over $351,958 in emergency assistance to households and families in need of fast emergency relief. These funds have gone to help 353 households helping to pay for rents, mortgages, groceries, utilities, medicine, and other daily necessities.

As the weeks go by and the number of requests for assistance increase by the hour, the generosity of those stepping up to help those in need is humbling.

One of the things that has inspired me these past weeks is witnessing the action of hundreds of good people working fast to do great things. Honestly, we have not been able to keep up with the outpouring of kindness and generosity for our fellow book lovers and fellow citizens.

At Binc, we are incredibly grateful for the support we have received over the past month from an incredible group of volunteers to publishers, regional trade associations, authors, literary agents, media partners, illustrators, comic book artists, and others. Your support of the booksellers and comic retailers who are faced with such uncertainty right now brings me hope.

Because of your support, Binc has been able to be nimble and responsive, getting help into the hands of those who need it most.

We have received more requests for assistance in the past thirty days than from all of 2011 through 2019 combined. We are able to meet this need because you have extended your hand and said, I can help.

As a longtime friend of Binc, Judey K. said this week, “Independent doesn’t mean alone.”

Take good care of yourself,
